Fakarava South Pass (Tumakohua)
Tuamotu Archipelago (Fakarava Atoll), French Polynesia
About this site
Fakarava's South Pass is the crown jewel of French Polynesia diving - famous for its 'Wall of Sharks' where up to 700 grey reef sharks gather in a single area. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve pass offers the most spectacular shark aggregation on Earth, with the sharks forming a living wall as they rest in the mild current. The famous grouper spawning event in July attracts even more predators.
