Static apnea is the purest test of relaxation in freediving. You simply hold your breath while staying perfectly still, usually floating face down in shallow water or lying comfortably on land. There is no swimming and no depth, so all your energy goes into staying calm. It is a wonderful way to understand how your body responds to breath-holding.
