Dynamic apnea is the discipline of covering horizontal distance underwater on one breath. In DYN you wear fins or a monofin; in DNF, dynamic no fins, you propel yourself with a breaststroke-like pull and kick. Both reward the same thing above all else: efficiency. The diver who wastes the least oxygen, not the one who works hardest, goes furthest.
